What to Expect During Your First Visit

Review your medical and dental history.

Take digital x-rays and intraoral photographs of your teeth and gums.

Conduct an oral cancer screening.

Check your teeth and gums for any cavities (tooth decay) or signs of gum disease. (gingivitis, periodontitis).

Check your bite.
-
Clean your teeth using ultrasonic cleaning technology (read more) to remove plaque and tartar (calculus) that can damage your teeth and lead to cavities and gum disease.

Polish your teeth.

Floss your teeth.

A sealant may be applied to protect the teeth from tooth decay. (read more)
Based on the results of your examination Dr. Bell will determine the appropriate treatment plan for you. Because of the comprehensiveness of your first visit please plan to be in the office for approximately two (2) hours.

Follow-Up Visits
During future appointments (approximately 1 hour) you will be seen by your hygienist who will become your partner in helping you to maintain good oral health.

She will reevaluate your overall oral health by examining your teeth and gums and document any changes.

She will clean, polish, and floss your teeth as was done during your first visit to remove plaque and tartar that may have formed.

She will discuss any changes and assist you in developing and maintaining an effective oral health plan.
Through achieving good oral-health you are helping to prevent oral diseases, helping to keep your natural teeth healthy, and helping to maintain your overall health.
